Jeep is an American automobile brand which is a part of FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES. The
company mainly manufactures SUV's and Off Road Vehicles.
Jeep is the world's first mass manufactured SUV.
Jeep was originally known under the name of WILLY JEEP was mostly supplied to the American Army as a vehicle for transport of men and materials in various army campaigns after 1941.
.Production for civilians started in 1945.
Jeep India commenced its operation from Rajangoan (50kms from Pune.) in June 2017 .It will be a 50:50 joint venture between FIAT AND TATA MOTORS.The factory has the capacity to produce 1.6 lakh units and 3.5 lakh engines.
The company initially plans to launch 12 models in India in a phased manner.
Versions
Petrol version
1.4 litre petrol engine with 160 horse power engine.
Diesel Version
2.0 Eco Diesel with 170 horse power engine.
Gears
6 speed manual gear transmission and also 7 speed automatic transmission gear box with a special feature called " Dual Dry Clutch Technology "
Both engine versions are Bharath VI STAGE compliant.
Price tag is from 14 to 19 Lakhs.Both petrol and diesel version are on offer. The vehicle has both 2x2 and 4x4 wheel drives .

The company invested about 300 million dollars to roll out the Jeep in India with an exclusive group of engineers from US ,Brazil, India ,China and Italy who made contributions for the successful launch of the Jeep brand in India.
